Heronsrest is located on Conch Key: 60 South Conch Ave, Conch Key, Fl. 33050 - waterside.
The Heronsrest Vacation Rental is a 1950's Conch Key wood cottage, 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom. Remodeled in 2005, using cedar paneling on the ceilings and walls (the walls are white-washed), walnut kitchen counter top, ironwood for the window and door trim in the living room and kitchen. In the bathroom, cedar paneling was spar-varnished to replicate a ship's interior. The bathroom's counter tops are Douglas Fir rafters which were recycled from another Conch Key home that was torn down. The owner was able to make these beautiful planks alive again by sanding and cutting to fit in the bathroom. Kohler faucets and sinks are throughout this vacation home. The crown molding in the whole home is Douglas Fir - custom made. The floors are the original Dade County Pine. We are giving you all these details regarding this Florida Keys home, to tell you just how comfortable this vacation rental home really is. Wood is a natural product and is comfortable and warm to humans.
You will find this home clean and safe. Central air conditioning and, heat - for those one or two weeks out of the year heat is needed (50 degrees is cold to us). Dishwasher, flush stove top, modern oven, microwave, seating for 6, fully equipped kitchen, sleeper sofa, flat screen television, washer/dryer, king size bed, 2 twin beds. It has a large dock for the sunset celebration, your boat dockage, or foolin' around with your fishing pole. The dock has a ladder and a floating dock is attached to really get out there to view what's going on under the water. Manatees and turtles cruise these docks on a regular basis. Look up...and you will see the Florida Keys wild birds flying past.
Our street side of this Keys' rental home is just as unusual and fun. We planted a row of 2 foot high Pandanus Palms right in front of the home, oh...about 6 feet from the house - that was in 2005. Today, 2011, they have grown to 10 feet high and we have been told by our coconut palm tree trimmers, Dot Palm, that these plants will continue to grow and actually become taller than the house! Guess we didn't plan ahead and only loved the color and shape of the Pandanus. But, we are the talk of the neighborhood and people stop and look and wonder...what the heck...is there a house behind those plants? You'll need to stay tuned to this website for updates on the height of these pretty tropical plants. Talking about coconut palm trees, there are a total of 16 on the property...swaying in our tropical breezes. Place yourself in the hammock under the coconut palms and have yourself a piña colada with an umbrella stuck in it.
